SHARP SURVEY
The Student Health and Risk Prevention (SHARP) Survey is administered every two years to students, in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12 in Grand County School District, as well as most public and certain charter school districts across Utah. The survey is designed to assess adolescent substance use, anti-social behavior, and the risk and protective factors that predict these adolescent problem behaviors.
The survey is confidential, important, voluntary, and is one of the best sources of information that local organizations have to understand how to build better protective factors to ensure our community helps children get the supports they need to grow up to become healthy adults.
The survey results allow us to create programs/strategies and interventions around the survey outcomes. This data is also used for funding opportunities not only in the school district but also throughout community organizations.
According to Utah law, students’ parents must give their permission before the student can participate in the survey. You need to be aware that: (1) Your child’s participation is completely voluntary and confidential. (2) If your child does not participate, they will not be penalized or lose any school benefits to which they are otherwise entitled. (3) Your child may discontinue the survey or skip any or all questions on the survey without penalty or loss of any school benefits to which he or she is otherwise entitled
