Title VI Program

Title VI is a grant program from the federal government that provides funds for programs which hope to "support and empower American Indian/Alaskan Native students, embrace positive native values, and honor and affirms their past, present, and future contributions to our global society"

Title VI programs help to support a position that provide after school programs for Native American Clubs at each of our schools.

  • Help to build pride, connection, confidence, for Native American, Alaskan and Hawaiian students
  • Provide fun, educational, and connective family events
  • Create fundraisers for student opportunities
  • Help connect students and their families with resources
  • Help to connect native students across the district with one another
  • Empower students to feel ownership of their education
  • Prepare for their futures by providing college visits, career introduction, field trips, and new experiences
  • Advocate for student academic success alongside parents, principals, counselors and teachers.

Native American Parent Committee

Grand County School District and the Title VI Coordinator provide space and help facilitate a Native American Parent Committee whose purpose is to set goals, objectives, and purposes for how Title VI grant funds are spent and what the priorities are for Title VI programs.

Meetings are held every Third Thursday of the Month at Margaret L. Hopkin Middle School at 5:15 p.m. All parents, or guardians of Native American, Alaskan, and Hawaiian students are welcomed to participate and contribute to the parent committee.

Contact Title VI Coordinator Jeremy Spaulding for more information - [email protected] or at his office at 435-259-4765

(NEW!) Elections are coming up! At the December 19th Meeting
If you are interested in being our Chair; Vice-Chair, and Secretary we would love to have you email or call at the number and email above.

Job descriptions for the positions are within the Bylaws on page 8 - please read more about them by following this link - This is an important job and we'd love to have more help with our parent committee. It is not a huge commitment, at one hourly meeting a month, and some help with occasional events. Please consider joining our group! If you don't want to be an officer, we are still looking for more parents to join the group as a whole and would love for you to join us for a meeting - every Third Thursday of the month!
