Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of the SCSCTeacher:
• Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned.
• Collaborate with the director/lead teacher to ensure effective core instruction, appropriate interventions and supports are in place to increase the academic achievement of each student.
• Collaborate with the director/lead teacher to implement Positive Behavior Systems.
• Coordinate school's participation with community support services.
• Assist in the coordination of transportation, custodial, food, ELL, SPED and other district support services.
• Assist in the supervision of extended day/year programs.
• Monitor process to ensure compliance and adherence to district procedures, state guidelines and federal regulations.
• Identify clear processes for universal screening, which will be used to identify students who qualify for services and/or need additional support. • Establish a progress monitoring process and data collection procedures including cut points (Utah Personalized Competency Based Learning).
• Serve on school or district committees as assigned by supervisor.
• Cooperate in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
• All employees may be required to perform additional duties in support of educational and operational priorities. e.g. In conjunction with students, perform general cleaning, garbage removal, and sanitizing of work areas, provides remote assistance to students and staff, and any other reasonable duty as needed.
• Teach the core content area(s) outlined in the USBE's Core Curriculum, and adopted by the Board of Education, correlated with other approved learning activities.
• Provide academic assistance in all curricular areas.
• Be able to work with a wide range of students with different learning and academic capabilities.
• Work closely with the administration and the counseling department to develop plans for students who are credit deficient or struggling academically or behaviorally.
• Be well organized and be able to track student credits.
• Instruct pupils in citizenship, study skills, behavioral, social and emotional development.
• Meet regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance requirements.
• Utilize GCSD instructional framework to provide engaging instruction based on core standards.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student.
• Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time. • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• Evaluate student growth, maintain appropriate records, and prepare progress reports. • Communicate with parents through conferences, telephone calls, e-mails, student tracking sheets, or other means, to discuss the student's progress. Assist in the school's plan for effective parent engagement.
• Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, school staff, district staff, and patrons.
• Requires the staff to identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members to help students solve health, academic, social and psychological challenges.
• Provide and maintain a safe and supportive environment in the classroom and on the campus.
• Maintain professional expertise through in-service education activities provided by the school district and self-selected professional growth activities.
• Participate in faculty meetings and instructional professional learning communities (PLCs) as required.
• Develop and administer appropriate classroom structure and policies and procedures.
• Use approved books and instruction materials; maintain required inventory records.
• Administer group standardized tests in accordance with state and district testing procedures.
• Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
• Requires effective problem solving, organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
• Requires the ability to calmly handle classroom management issues.
• Requires the ability to work as a member of a team as well as the ability to work independently with little direct supervision. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• Must be fingerprinted and clear a criminal backgrounds check.
• At least three years of school-based employment in the classroom, ideally in a related position.
• Valid Utah teaching license, Professional.
• Ability to build and sustain positive relationships with school-based personnel.
• Ability to treat students, parents and staff with empathy, discretion and confidentiality.
• Demonstrated skills with behavior analysis and developing behavior plans desired.
• Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written.
• Ability to take initiative, work efficiently and effectively with little oversight, and complete assignments on-time.
• Ability to work collaboratively and individually on assigned tasks.
• Proficiency in the use of technology and instructional media tools.
• Successful experience coaching other professionals preferred.
• Flexiblility and a willingness to adapt to changes.
• Willingness to continually learn new information and skills related to student learning and achievement including content areas that may be outside of current skill set.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
• Previous experience in the public school system, experiential or hands on learning and/or institute of higher education is preferred.

• Requires ability to lift a minimum of ten (10) pounds.
• Physical ability to perform the essential functions listed above with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Possess the physical, mental, and emotional stability to work under stressful conditions, including but not limited to: deadlines, contract requirements, inspection requirements, and interaction with critical personnel.
