Student Health Services Overview

Welcome to the school nursing website. The school nurse is available to collaborate with students, staff and families to support the health needs of students in the school environment, reduce abseentism, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and to help foster a healthy learning environment.

 

 

The School Nurse Provides the following services:

 

  • Individualized health care planning and case management for children with special health care needs
  • Medication administration and nursing procedures
  • Training of designated staff on emergency medication administration
  • Mandated Screenings including:
    • Distance (Tier I) Vision Screening (Pre-K, K, 1,3,5,7 and 9th grades)
    • Near (Tier II) Vision Screening (all SPED referrals, students grade 1-3 not meeting reading benchmarks)
  • Tobacco use interventions
  • Communicable disease prevention and control
  • Collaboration with community and school health care providers and support services
  • Management of student health and immunization records
