Grand County School District serves Special Education students
from ages 3-21 in five different schools. We have an excellent
teaching and support staff that deliver specialized instruction
and related services necessary to help our students succeed
in school. If you suspect that your child is a student with
a disability or if we can provide assistance to you please do
not hesitate to call.
We also offer Title I services to preschool, Red Rock Elementary
and Helen M. Knight Intermediate students and their families.
Title I is a federally funded program designed to provide additional
support to students and their families so that each student
can achieve grade level success.
Grand County School District utilizes the Utah State Core Curriculum
as the basis of all instruction. We are currently establishing
essential skills and standards at each grade level and for each
subject that will be available on line in the future. A copy
of the Utah State Core Curriculum is available on line at http://www.usoe.k12.ut.us.
Utah's U-PASS System, which makes up the assessment and data
foundation for reporting results of the state's accountability
system, includes descriptive data about each school, as well
as several major tests that affect significant numbers of students
in the state. Combined with federal requirements for assessment
of students with disabilities and English language learners,
U-PASS outlines requirements for data collection for all schools
and students in Utah to provide information about their performance
from year to year. As listed below, there are seven major assessment
programs that are part of the U-PASS program.
- Core Assessment Criterion-Referenced Tests (reading/language
arts, mathematics, and science)
- Reading Diagnostic Instruments (used in conjunction with
CRTs to determine grade-level performance)
- Direct Writing Assessment
- A Norm-Referenced Achievement Test (currently the Stanford
Achievement Test, 9th Edition)
- Utah Basic Skills Competency Test (reading, writing, and
mathematics)
- Utah Alternate Assessment (for special needs students)
- National Assessment of Educational Progress
Please contact our office with any questions or concerns you
