March 8: Canyonlands Half Marathon Aid Station
7:30AM-Noon, Meet at Grand County Middle School for carpooling at 7:30AM.
Mentors will operate an aid station for the Canyonlands Half Marathon race on March 8th. Please call Dan (260-9646) if you are willing to help staff the table. This is exciting and fun -- and it will help GrandAM raise some money to keep the program afloat next year! This is for mentors only, but with program permission, a few older students may be allowed to participate

BEGIN TRAINING WEEK:
*Marco Polo: 3/9, GrandAM Office, 4-5:30PM.
This cool training will introduce and familiarize you with the amazing Marco Polo website. This session will give you and your mentee the ability to efficiently navigate the site, visiting a multitude of amazing places with a comprehensive curriculum built in! Tap into your mentee’s technological and visual acuity while teaching them about Math, English, History, Art, Geography – all in an exciting format. Teachers, community members, and parents are welcome. This training will be held at the GrandAM Office.

This is for new mentors. Learn about how to be a great mentor, school procedures, and what to expect when you start. There are 2 sessions available. Every new mentor must come to one session. Open to teachers, administrators, counselors, and others. This training will be held at the Grand County School District offices and the Moab City Conference Room.

Get ready to learn about some enjoyable, creative activities that you can do with your mentee. With ideas for most age groups, this training will ease your anxiety about what you’re going to do with your mentee next. Don’t miss this fun opportunity to expand your mentoring repertoire.
*Leadership: 3/12, GCSD Board Room (264 S 400 E), 10-11:30AM.
This interesting and empowering training session will cover: Conflict resolution, dealing with diversity, and problem-solving skills. You will learn how to help your mentee work with others and address challenges in his or her life. This training will not just cover leadership topics but also show you how to integrate them into your mentoring sessions. Come to this workshop and learn how to let your mentee discover the leader in him/herself while honing your own skills.

Come talk with other mentors about your experience in mentoring. This is an informal opportunity to see what kinds of activities are working for others and share with others what is working for you. GrandAM staff will be there too to answer questions and help in any way we can. These are held the third Thursday of every month.
