-Adequate Yearly Progress-

School Year: 2003-04

Under the accountability provisions in the NO Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, all public schools are evaluated for Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). Schools, districts, and the state are required to meet AYP criteria on three indicators — (1) participation in testing, (2) language arts and mathematics Core CRT scores, and (3) either graduation rate (for high schools and districts) or attendance rate (for elementary and middle/junior high schools). This current report on AYP is based on student scores for tests taken in the Spring of 2004. (Note: Attendance data for school districts was not used by the State.)

There may be school results that seem confusing. A school may be doing a good job as a whole but miss the mark for a particular subgroup of students. Schools also may not make AYP because of numbers of students tested or not having acceptable levels on attendance or graduation rates. These and other factors determine if schools are making AYP.

In Grand School District, all schools made AYP as determined by the Utah State Office of Education. Those schools are Red Rock Elementary, Helen M. Knight Intermediate, Grand County Middle School and Grand County High School.
