Test Information

ACT AND SAT

The ACT and the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) are college entrance exams required by most colleges and universities. The ACT is generally preferred by colleges in the western states, the SAT by west coast and east coast colleges. Many colleges and universities accept either. Students may take these tests as many times as they are willing to pay for them. The school has a limited amount of fee waivers for both tests. Please have your student contact the counseling center if they need a fee waiver. The ACT should be taken at least once during the junior year (April is a good time). Students can then take it again during the senior year if they want to try to improve their scores. The ACT is offered in Moab on three dates. Because we have so few students taking the SAT, it is only offered in Moab once during the year. Other test dates are available, but a student will have to go elsewhere to test. The registration packet must be postmarked by a certain date for each test. It takes about an hour to fill in the registration packet. Please encourage your student to get the packet and fill it out early. Registration can also be done on-line at www.act.org
