ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*
- Repair, adjust, rebuild and/or replace diesel, gas and small engines and/or components (including engine head).
- Lubricate and service vehicles for which the district is responsible.
- While servicing vehicles check for wear, damage, or malfunctions and perform preventive maintenance procedures as required by the District Transportation Department guidelines.
- Do break adjustments, i.e., remove and replace brake shoes; sand blast, prime and paint brake shoes; rebuild brake shoes.
- Do a complete vehicle tuneup, including removing and replacing plugs, wires and/or any ignition components; adjust, remove and/or replace carburetor, distributor, generator, alternator, water pump, fan, air compressor pump, air governor, and any other under-the-hood component; check and adjust timing, dwell, etc.
- Do clutch adjustments, i.e., remove and replace clutch, transmission (either manual or automatic), driveshaft, carrier bearing, and/or universal joint.
- Remove, repair and replace differential. Remove, repair and replace rear axle.
- Adjust, remove and/or replace steering linkage; R&R ball joints, power steering pump, hoses, etc.
- Remove and replace shutter, shutterstat, radiator, radiator hose, etc.
- Remove and replace dash gauges, ignition switch, light switch, flasher unit, etc.
- Remove and replace lamp bulb, lens, or complete unit for headlights, taillights, loading light, turn signal lights, brake lights, maker lights, etc.
- Remove and replace battery, battery cables, starter and/or other electrical components. Analyze and correct vehicle body electrical problems.
- Remove, repair, adjust and/or replace doors.
- Repair, adjust, remove and/or replace wheelchair lifts and components.
