- JOB SUMMARY*
-
To serve students that are in State's Custody* and that are attending main stream school classes and to help these particular students succeed. To promote and model skills and look for and encourage positive student behaviors. (*State's Custody is defined as guardianship being taken from the student's parent and awarded to the State.)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*
- Receive referrals from the Division of Family Services (DFS), Youth Corrections and Court Adjudication.
- Complete state regulation intake and state and district paperwork.
- Identify the student's individual needs.
- Work with the student on a daily or weekly bases, based on need or level.
- Monitor and track student attendance and academic performance; tabulate and evaluate behavior.
- Tutor student individually in the classroom.
- Help student establish problem solving skills and aid student with personal social and emotional adjustments.
- Work with teachers, counselors and administrators to make the student's school year successful.
- Place student in need of special training in vocational programs.
- Provide special activities for each student in the program (Honor Roll luncheons, reinforcements, rewards, field trips, birthdays).
- Communicate and work with foster parents and case workers in helping each student succeed academically and socially.
- Plan and organize the annual self awareness conference to educate students on AIDS, substance abuse and self esteem issues.
- When necessary attend team meetings at school in which students are being served.
- Consistently follow behavior program at each school and enforce class rules.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Necessary to Performance of Essential Functions:
- Possess problem solving skills.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, school staff, district staff, and patrons.
- Communicate effectively.
- Hold and maintain a Utah Driver's License.

Required Education and Training for Essential Functions:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited institution at an acceptable academic level to be determined by the Grand County School District.
