JOB SUMMARY*
Under the direction of the Superintendent the Technology Supervisor is primarily concerned with the development, implementation, operation, monitoring, and evaluation of the technology program for the school system. This individual provides leadership in identifying hardware and software purchases, ensuring that they are consistent with the school system instructional technology plan and state technology guidelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*
- Is dedicated to providing a user friendly, accessible and reliable system within a department dedicated to serving the needs of all district users.
- Provides leadership for short- and long-range planning for all technology initiatives: vision, goals, program objectives/strategies/activities, infrastructure, staffing, training, evaluation, budgeting, and collaboration with others.
- Works with other district technology directors in the region and the regional technology coordinator from the Southeast Education Service Center (SESC), and representatives from Utah Educational Network (UEN).
- Has current knowledge of, or will be able to install, repair and maintain the hardware configurations and computer-related items on state contract and of the other technology-related state contract products. Use the state and local technology plans to establish standards for the purchase of equipment, software, related media, and supplies for instructional technology integration and management activities according to the local purchasing guidelines.
- Maintains, supervises and supports the district inventory of technology assets.
- Assists technology users in resolving problems associated with ordering, service, and support.
- Plans and coordinates the implementation of special activities to promote technology.
- Serves as a clearinghouse of information on trends, research, applications, and effective practices related to the use of technology in the school program and school system.
- Serves as a system contact for all technology-related communication.
- Facilitates the successful operation of the district's web site. Works with the district administrative team and technology committee to support, review and up date acceptable use policies and procedures for employee and student use of the Internet.
- Serves as a member of the District Technology Committee.
- Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by the superintendent, including possible grant writing.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, Skills & Abilities Necessary to Performance of Essential Functions:
- Strong, extensive knowledge of computers and related technologies as they apply to pre K-12 education.
- Ability to communicate effectively and positively with all levels of school system staff.
- Ability to assist users and trainers with purchase and maintenance of software and hardware compatible with district system.
- Ability to establish evaluation strategies and implement formative and summative activities.
- Ability to lead technology planning efforts including activities to develop, implement, and evaluate both the system and school technology plans.
- Ability to manage available technology financial budget.
- Possess problem solving skills.
- Familiar with opportunities to support teaching staff in the integration of educational technology and the internet into teaching and learning.
- Demonstrated experience with both PC and Macintosh platforms (basically District PC).
- Demonstrated and successful technology leadership skills
- Possesses or has equivalent training and workable knowledge of CNE, Novell, CCNA or CCNP (Cisco System), MCSE (Microsoft Server) and CME.
