| JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the School Principal works to help students enrolled in the alternative education program with education, training, and experience based as fully as possible on their own stated needs, interests, desires, and expectations, while maintaining a high standard of validity, relevance, and intellectual rigor in the educational experiences offered. |
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*
1. Following established criteria for admission enroll students into the alternative education program, and administer the admissions procedure.
2. Formulates and articulates the educational philosophy guiding the program.
3. Establishes curriculum to meet student needs within State and district guidelines.
4. Maintains current knowledge of all pertinent rules, regulations, and statutes, and assures that the alternative education program meets such requirements and standards.
5. Assumes responsibility for the collection, review, and submission of all forms and reports relative to the program to the administration, the Board and to State agencies.
6. Teaches individuals, small groups and classes of alternative education students.
7. Meets with students enrolled in the program for the purposes of counseling and evaluation.
8. Interprets the alternative education program to the student body at large, to the District's staff, to the administration, to the Board, and to the public. |
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS*
1. Maintain professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the district and through self selected professional growth activities.
2. Perform other job duties as required. |

Required Education and Training for Essential Functions:
1. Valid Utah teaching license and subject specific endorsement, or alternative program leading to license. |
