Board Goals -- 2007/ 2008
Goal 1: Student Achievement — All GCSD students shall receive best-practices, research-based instruction enabling them to meet district, state and national standards of education.
• Objective 1: 90% of GCSD students shall score proficient on the Utah Criterion Reference Tests by Spring of 2013.
• Objective 2: GCSD shall develop partnerships with community agencies/entities to assist in closing the achievement gap of pre-kindergarten children by the time these children reach kindergarten age.
• Objective 3: Beginning the spring of 2007, 90% of kindergarten students shall reach pre-determined benchmarks by the end of each school year.
• Objective 4: GCSD shall develop a Comprehensive Professional Development Plan (CPDP) resulting in the establishment of classroom routines and practices that represent data-driven, best practice instruction.
• Objective 5: GCSD shall continue to support the alignment of curriculum and assessment K-12
Goal 2: Communication With the Public — GCSD will provide ongoing opportunities for input, involvement, communication and participation with the public and with community / legislative leaders.
• Objective 1: GCSD shall develop a Constituency Communication Plan for the year.
• Objective 2: As part of the Communication Plan, the Board and Superintendent shall provide guest editorials and interviews to the local newspaper.
• Objective 3: As part of the Communication Plan, the Board and Superintendent shall send quarterly district information updates to local, state and federal legislators.
• Objective 4: As part of the Communication Plan, the District shall increase the effectiveness of its website.
Goal 3: Promoting the General Well-Being of Students — GCSD will assess, identify and improve upon programs deemed exceptionally beneficial to the general well-being of students.
• Objective 1: GCSD shall create and maintain bully-free school cultures and continue to develop continuums and linkages between schools to strengthen consistency in the K-12 approach to bullying.
• Objective 2: GCSD shall assess and improve upon district wide comprehensive student mental and physical health, wellness and nutrition programs.
• Objective 3: GCSD shall seek means of continuing the GrandAM Mentor Program.
• Objective 4: GCSD shall seek means of continuing the BEACON Program.
Goal 4: Master Planning for Maximized Efficiency — GCSD will develop a district wide Master Plan that will result in the assessment and prioritization of program and facility needs.
• Objective 1: Facilities - MHTN shall guide the District in the assessment of its facilities and in the selection of best planning options based on assessment results.
• Objective 2: Maintenance & Operations - GCSD shall continue its ongoing dialog regarding M&O priorities.
• Objective 3: Capital Outlay for Annual Maintenance Projects - GCSD will continue its ongoing dialog regarding Capital Outlay priorities in order to financially plan to meet highest needs.
• Objective 4: Cost Savings - GCSD shall evaluate current expenditures in order to ensure maximum efficiency in its ongoing allocation of resources.
• Objective 5: New Funding Sources - GCSD shall pursue sources of additional revenue to support current and projected expenditures.
